DRAG FOR A DREAM

D4D-2026.jpg

Join us for a drag and ballroom extravaganza at this year’s Drag for a Dream to celebrate 10 years of transforming Phoenix through visionary anti-colonial trans and queer migrant leadership.

Every single day the violence increases, the stakes rise and you wonder how to effectively stand up for justice. But the violence of US fascism is not new to trans and queer migrants and we have been executing effective strategies to build community care and collective power to resist the brutality of colonial governments for generations. These strategies are possible because of the unwavering support of beloved community members like you. Today, the most effective thing you can do is lock in with local movements like Trans Queer Pueblo, where every single day we defend our people and build a just and livable future.

10 years ago a group of 20 mixed status trans and queer migrants sat down in a church basement in Phoenix. We assessed our conditions and like our ancestors taught us, we dreamed the future.  In 10 years our members have:

  • Founded a political home for trans and queer migrants and people of color.

  • Built the first patient-run trans and queer undocumented clinic in the nation

  • Liberated 300+ LGBTQ+ immigrants from ICE concentration camps and torture chambers.

  • Created an indigenous feminist network to navigate, escape, healing from and abolishing domestic and pol/ICE violence.

  • Supported each other in fighting for 100s of legal protections against criminalization like asylums, name changes, abd visas.

  • Forced a reckoning on racism within the LGBTQ+ corporate non-profits starting with our 2017 ‘No Justice No Pride’ civil disobedience that sparked protests around the world.

We have done all of this with uncompromising commitment and reverence for our values, community, ancestors, and a livable and beautiful future for generations to come. Big philanthropy is shutting its doors left and right on communities in need, especially those who are uncompromisingly anti-colonial, anti-racist and pro-trans.  In all honesty, we will only be able to exist if people like you make the decision to donate today to sustain the struggle for our future.

The LGBTQ Justice center was my home, my  family a safe place were i felt comfortable being myself, where I was able to express my self as the women that I am, without fear of being discriminated. It is the place where I slept, a private space, my refuge.
